One of my closest girlfriends who is in grad school is doing research on the differences in education across different countries. She's looking for people who are willing to answer a questionnaire as honestly and thoroughly as possible. If you are willing to participate, she would send you the questionnaire in a few weeks.
Great chance to voice your educational experiences, as well as having my eternal gratitude... :) Any takers?

Since it is Valentine's Day and since you or people you know may be single, I ask you a favor:
- If you are single and feeling 'eh' about it, spread love. Give another single friend a rose or some chocolate--let them know you love them. It *will* raise your spirits.
- If you are not single and you know someone who is, give them some love. It does change the feeling of the day...
To all of you, I send love, hugs and appropriate kisses! :)

Got this from the Daily Om...
January 11, 2005 7 Ways To Gain More Self-Confidence Becoming More Confident
1. Learn to give and take graciously because true confidence cannot exist in a vacuum. Though it might not feel natural at first, the most confident people are those who are able to find a balance between helping others and asking for help when they themselves need it.
2. Arm yourself with the facts. When you feel unsure, confidence can melt away. Always being prepared with the correct information can help you retain your inner strength in an unnerving situation.
3. You cannot rethink the past, but you can reinvent yourself. Broadening your horizons with new and exciting experiences will help you to feel accomplished and will add unique modes of expression to your daily life.
4. It is easy to forget how many difficult obstacles you've overcome when you're faced with the obstacles ahead. Keeping a success journal, wherein you list accomplishments big and small, as well as future goals, can inspire confidence when you're feeling overwhelmed or under-motivated.
5. Bolstering the confidence of others and making new friends are powerful confidence builders. Help others to feel good by approaching them, asking questions, being friendly and complimenting them.
6. In situations that create feelings of uncertainty (which can quickly undermine self-confidence), imagine that the difficulties involved are ones you've faced before. Feeling self-assured about a few things can help you perceive yourself as confident about most things.
7. Each morning, give your self-confidence a jump-start with a positive affirmation. Think of five the things you have accomplished. Look closely at yourself in the mirror and remind yourself that you accept, support, and trust yourself, even when the unexpected happens.

I should be asleep but mike_r is keeping me up, watching the game.
GO YANKEES!!!
My prediction: we're winning this tonight and it's OVER for the Sox baby!!!
~~Edit~~
1:25am: Ok, ok... so what's really in a prediction anyway? So we'll go to game 5 and we'll kick their asses then. It's all good. Either way, the Yankees will prevail!!!

In case you haven't heard, Lance Armstrong (the bicyclist) has started an organization for those suffering from cancer called LiveStrong. He is trying to raise 5 million dollars to support young people living with the disease. Nike has paired up with him and is giving 1 million to the organization. I have bought a few boxes of bracelets. Each costs 1 dollar and the purpose is to wear them as a symbol of support. For those of you who don't know, my father died of lung cancer so this touches home. But it doesn't have to hit home in order for you to support it.
If you'd like to wear a bracelet in support, please let me know and when I get them I will send you one out. If you'd like to order your own, please check out the LiveStrong site.
Much love.

I got this in email and thought it was quite profound. I have no clue who the original author is but I hope you enjoy:
Recently, I overheard a Mother and daughter in their last moments together at a regional airport. They had announced her departure and standing near the security gate, they hugged and she said, "I love you. I wish you enough." She in turn said, "Mom, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Mom." They kissed and she left. She walked over toward the window where I was seated. Standing there, I could see she wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on her privacy, but she welcomed me in by asking, "Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?" "Yes, I have," I replied. "Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?" I asked. "I am old and she lives much too far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is, the next trip back will be for my funeral," she said. "When you were saying good-bye I heard you say, 'I wish you enough.' May I ask what that means?" She began to smile. "That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone." She paused for a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, she smiled even more. "When we said 'I wish you enough,' we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them," she continued. Then, turning toward me, she shared the following as if she were reciting it from memory. I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright. I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive. I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess. I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye." She then began to sob and walked away. My friends and loved ones, I wish you ENOUGH!!! They say "It takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them". Take the time to live!!! My friends and loved ones, I wish you ENOUGH! Send this phrase to the people you'll never forget and also remember to send it to the person who sent it to you. It's a short message to let them know that you'll never forget them. If you don't send it to anyone, it means you're in a hurry and that you've forgotten your friends. Take the time to live!!! My friends and loved ones, I wish you ENOUGH!

A good friend needs help... Her family member needs a bone marrow transplant but no matches have been found. If he does not find a match, he does not have long to live. And he will be leaving behind two beautiful children and a wife. I know you don't know him or her BUT think if it were your family... you'd reach out for help and hope someone would give it. So if you're willing to take the test to check if you can be a donor, please see Become a Donor.
If you're not willing to test, then I ask you one simple thing: Post this in your journal and reference that link.
At the end of the day, we're all here together on this planet... If we all join efforts, maybe one of us can help.
Hugs to all!

I've decided to close my journal off to anyone who is not a LiveJournal user and who is not listed as my friend. I am posting about things that could put me in a sticky situation if read by the wrong eyes, so please forgive me... However if you want to become a 'friend' of mine then just let me know. :)

THE YANKEES WON!!! :) 6-1 Yankees in the end. Now all we have to do is win 3 more games. *Fingers crossed*
Today is going to be a long day. I have a test that runs from 6pm until about 10pm which means I'll be walking through my door at about 11pm! Good grief. I have a midterm Thursday that I haven't really prepared for but I have two days to get into shape. Scared a bit.
Last night I just had weird dreams, dreams involving past loves. Why is it you can control your mind during the day but things haunt you in your sleep?
Off I go... *Fingers crossed* that I get through this day without feeling wiped tomorrow. :)
